September, 2009 — May, 2010

The entire city of Nashville celebrated the literary heritage and humor of Mark Twain in this artistic exploration of the lively, provoking, and distinctly American writer. Offerings included book clubs, art exhibits, theater presentations, dance performances, marionette shows, and musical tributes as rich and as varied as Twain's writing. The viewpoints, stories, and presentations were as diverse as our community--and enriched the understanding of learners of all ages.

This web site will remain live for some time, as it continues to show the efforts of all the partner institutions and organizations involved. The learning resources remain valuable. Keep on reading and learning!

Well, it's almost all over but the shoutin'. Check out this event:

Twilight of the Gods

Blackbird Theatre
H.G. Wells. Annie Oakley. Friedrich Nietzsche. These are just a few of the historical figures that convene, converse, and ultimately collide in this new comedic thriller by Nashville playwrights Wes Driver and Greg Greene. A dream for a modern utopia turns into a Gothic nightmare, and a battle of ideologies becomes a battle for survival as a variety of Victorian visionaries are murdered one-by-one with some of history’s great figures as suspects, including the (almost) immortal Mark Twain. Performances will be held at the Shamblin Theater, Bennett Campus Center at David Lipscomb University.
